I don’t know how, but tonight I found this article when I was open my Facebook. And somehow, I was interested to open, read and watch the video. This article I found from The Wall Street Journal. The complete article only can be accessed by who have subscribed to the website. And it is not free. So, I just watch the video, and try to catch all the things that be explained by the host and the speaker.
Here’s the link to the complete article.
They begin with a question, Can how you stand or sit affect your success? .
New research shows posture has a bigger impact on the body and mind than previously believed. Striking a powerful, expansive pose actually changes a person’s hormone and behavior, just as if he or she had real power.
The research which provided by Harvard Business School tell that “power pose”, (a pose as if had power – red) can affect the person in increasing hormones and behavior and also decrease stress. The pose when we stand or sit can be a sign to other people to judge and assess our behavior. They give an example, the pose when you sit can show that you are paying attention to the others or not. The firm poses of standing up, can release your energy so the people can get the impression. It also can show whether you are open to the social world or not. And also, some undercontroll gesture actually drives the nervous.
Maybe we all know about this theory because we often hear or read from some interview training, or career tips article. But I believe we also often forget this, when we faced the real condition of the interview or discussion. Without conscious we fold our hands, playing our foot, make some noise from the finger and many undercontroll actions that give a bad impression of yourself and drive our nervous.
I am sure we are confident to show our potential and skill when we are in the real condition. And we know that something behind “the cover” is sometimes different with the cover. But, when we can give the best shot on the cover, and give powerful contents, why not? Isn’t the best seller book , always have an eye-catching cover now?
